Moving into a care home for older Jewish people
Nightingale Hammerson welcomes Jewish men and women over the age of 60 from every part of the community. Our two homes can also accommodate couples who may have differing care needs. Nightingale House offers residential, nursing and dementia care, whilst Hammerson House currently offers residential, nursing and assisted living accommodation.
Nightingale House is able to care for around 200 individuals and each resident has their own private room with comfortable en-suite facilities, where the majority of care and support takes place.
Hammerson House is currently able to care for around 85 individuals. However in preparation for our major building project we are currently only able to accept applications for short stay care. However we can accommodate people on a permanent basis, on the understanding that it may not be possible for them to remain at the home when building work begins in approximately 2016. The capacity of the home will increase following the completion of expansion plans expected to be finished by 2018.
Our approach is holistic and we are passionate about providing person-centred care. To this end, every resident benefits from a wellbeing assessment within one week of arriving, to ensure that the staff can understand each individual’s requirements.
Nightingale Hammerson strives to encourage independence and choice for every resident, ensuring that they become fully integrated in Nightingale or Hammerson life, on their own terms and according to their own needs. We also understand how essential it is to offer emotional and practical support to the families of our residents. We recognise the importance of settling a new resident into the home as quickly as possible, both for their benefit and for the peace of mind of their loved ones.
Moving into a care home can be a difficult decision for residents and their families but we have the experience and resources to ensure that this transition is smooth. Our admissions procedure is streamlined and our Residents Services Department ensures a continuous flow of communication between the potential resident, their family and any professional agencies involved in the application process.
